Prepare to laugh, cry, and bask in nostalgia because Meg Ryan — at age 61 — has returned to rom-coms after 14 years!

Her upcoming film What Happens Later, which she both directs and stars in, follows Willa (Ryan), whose flight is one of the two flights delayed in the airport she’s at.

What is the only other flight delayed, you might ask? The one which her ex Bill (David Duchovny) was supposed to be on, which means they’re both stuck in the airport overnight together.

“Just those two flights?” Ryan’s Willa asks in the trailer, which was released today.

“Just us,” Bill replies, prompting them both to exclaim how “unbelievable” their precarious reunion is.

Ryan described her character to Entertainment Weekly as “a magical thinker,” while Duchovny’s Bill is more so “a catastrophic thinker.”

“These rom-coms really work when the two characters are somehow opposites and yet have a rhythm of intellect and humor and dialogue and banter that sort of indicates their compatibility,” she explained. She noted that Duchovny is embracing a character that she doesn’t “think is anything really like [him],” while she believes she more so resembles Willa.

“To see him dive into every single scene in the fullest way, he’s funny, and he’s smart, and he’s dear, and irresistible,” she continued.

Ryan also told EW that the upcoming film “sort of evolves the rom-com genre just a little bit.”

“It’s also about old people, and it’s still romantic and sexy,” she added

While Ryan starred in the 2015 drama Ithaca alongside her Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail co-star — or whom you might call her regular rom-com Romeo — Tom Hanks, the last rom-com she took part in was Serious Moonlight, which premiered in 2009, per E! News.

What Happens Later hits theaters on Oct. 13. Watch the trailer above.
