The Golden Bachelor revealed the group of 22 Golden Gals who will be competing for a lasting love with 72-year-old lead Gerry Turner this September, and fans of the Bachelor Franchise are sure to recognize one contestant in particular: Matt James’ mom, Patty!
James was a fan-favorite lead of The Bachelor Season 25, and Bachelor Nation will recall his single mom Patty appeared on his journey to comfort him, chat about their family, and offer advice along the way. Now, Patty is embarking on her own televised love story on The Golden Bachelor‘s debut season, set to premiere on ABC September 28.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Patty is a 70-year-old retired real estate professional from Durham, North Carolina. While we await her full ABC bio, we do know the following Patty fun fact: “Patty loves her body glitter and encourages you to do the same.” After Jess Girod and her body glitter sparkled on Season 27 of The Bachelor, I wholeheartedly believe the franchise needs more shimmer, so here’s hoping Patty brings her shining personality and skin to the mansion. And here’s hoping Matt James stops by The Golden Bachelor to get to know Gerry a bit.
Of the 22 Golden Bachelor contestants announced on August 30, each of them is at least 60 years old — a historic and long-overdue push in age diversity for the franchise. The women range from ages 60 to 75 and have careers such as “former Chicago Honey Bears cheerleader,” “pro-aging coach and midlife speaker,” “therapist,” and more.
One of the Golden Gals dives with sharks, another saw The Beatles in 1964, one is admittedly “OBSESSED” with Christmas, another woman love paintball, and several ladies enjoy pickle ball, just like their guy Gerry.
