Jimmy Kimmel revealed two celebs were looking out for him and his staff amid the ongoing WGA strike.

The debut episode of Strike Force Five — a podcast launched by late night hosts Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers to benefit their out-of-staff employees at each of their respective shows — was released yesterday (Aug. 30).

Kimmel said, “Ben Affleck and the despicable Matt Damon contacted me and offered to pay our staff,” noting that the dynamic duo “wanted to pay out of their own pocket” and offered to each pay a week’s worth of salaries for his on-strike Jimmy Kimmel Live staff. Nonetheless, Kimmel ultimately turned it down.

“I felt that that was not their responsibility,” he explained to his fellow late night hosts.

However, his podcast co-hosts wouldn’t let the secret go without chiding him for rejecting the money.

Meyers asked if the offer was “transferable,” while Colbert asked, “Could you say yes and then give your money to us?”

It turns out Kimmel had another potential A-list benefactor, with Ryan Reynolds offering the whole staff Mint Mobile services (Mint Mobile is also one of the podcast’s sponsors).

Kimmel introduced the podcast by describing it as an outlet to “get together and talk through our issues we’re dealing with” during the strike.

He also revealed that he was “very intent on retiring right around the time where the strike started,” but realized that “it’s kind of nice to work,” after all.

The hosts also responded to claims that the strike its a “vacation” for them, with Meyers quipping, “This is like a vacation in the same way a colonoscopy is like a nap. You’re unconscious for both of them, but one of ’em is really what you want on a regular basis.”

You can listen to the first episode of Strike Force Five on Spotify or other major podcast platforms.
