If 2023 is remembered for one thing, it will Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour. The record-shattering, internet-breaking concert tour has been a tough ticket to come by, but pretty soon fans will be able to watch it on the big screen because it was just announced that it will be made into a concert film coming to theaters this fall.

Swift announced the film to her 271 million Instagram followers yesterday, and in the time since, the film has broken ticket pre-sale records and crashed the AMC app, but of course all of that was to be expected.

Here’s everything we know about the Eras Tour film.

Where was Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour shot?

According to the Sept. 1 Puck newsletter, the concert film was shot at a recent Los Angeles stop on the Eras tour. It reportedly cost between $10 and 20 million to film, with Swift and her parents Scott and Andrea paying for the production costs themselves.

In fact, the entire production is being run by the Swifts, who sought out AMC Theaters as the distributor of the film (which caused the AMC App to crash, once Swifties started to log on to buy tickets to the film). Interestingly, there is no studio attached to the film; the Swifts’ direct deal with AMC means the family will share the profits from the film directly with AMC, who will distribute it, and the local theaters carrying it.

Per Puck, “The deal, according to two sources, provides that 43 percent of the gross stays with the theaters, and 57 percent will be shared by the Swifts and AMC as the distributor.”

When will Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour premiere in theaters?

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will premiere Oct. 13, according to Swift herself. The Eras Tour film is coming to theaters now to “capitalize on the fan fervor without cannibalizing tour sales,” per Puck, as Swift is on tour through 2024.

With many films, it’s not always certain how long the theatrical window will last, but fans can rest easy knowing that the deal between AMC and the Swifts ensures that it will remain in theaters for at least four weeks (or as long as 26 weeks, depending on ticket sales!), per Puck.

The film could move to a streaming site as early as 13 weeks into its theatrical run, though no platform has been confirmed to stream it yet. Previously, Swift released 2020’s Miss Americana on Netflix and dropped Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney+ that same year.

How Much Will Tickets To Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Film Cost?

This is a no-brainer: adult tickets to the Eras tour film cost $19.89. But if you’re one of the lucky ones, your ticket might also come with a poster: AMC and Cinemark have reportedly ordered 4 million posters to give away at their theaters, per Puck. As of today, the Eras Tour film has already earned $26 million, a record for first-day pre-sales.
