Sen. Ted Cruz is a one-man outrage machine, expressing his dismay with “liberal” and “woke” culture any chance he gets. This year, he has targeted Barbie, calling the film “Chinese Communist propaganda” and called the Grammys “evil,” and this week, he expressed his rage at a suggestion that drinking less alcohol is better for your health.

The not-so-controversial comments were made by George Koob, the director for the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, who said that Americans should reduce alcohol consumption to two drinks per week for better health, which is the guideline in Canada.

Currently, U.S. Dietary Guidelines suggest no more than two drinks per day for adult men and one for women, but if you’ve ever been to a bar, college campus or picnic, you’ll know that very few people actually adhere to these government recommendations in real life.

Cruz appeared in a Newsmax segment earlier in the week, with a group of men standing behind him, expressing his anger at the idea that the government would suggest reducing alcohol consumption.

“What is it with liberals who want to control every aspect of your life?” Cruz asked. “And now these idiots have come out and said, ‘Drink two beers a week.’ That’s their guideline. Well, I gotta tell ya, if they want us to drink two beers a week, frankly they can kiss my ass,” Cruz said, and then he and the group of men behind him all took a manly swig from their respective beer bottles.

Cruz’s comments and his beer chug became the object of ridicule, and in a Morning Joe segment, host Willie Geist couldn’t even contain himself, laughing as he stated, “It’s just, the acting is so bad. That’s where the director calls cut, and steps in and says, ‘OK, that was a great first take. What we’re trying to do is simulate human behavior. So let’s try that again, the way people actually actually behave,'” per The Wrap.

“That was Emmy-worthy stuff,” Sam Stein added, taking a jab at Cruz’s melodramatic performance.

Pundit Jennifer Palmieri added that Cruz was displaying “fake outrage, executed badly.”
