As Donald Trump prepares to be arraigned (again, for the third time to be exact) today in Washington, D.C., The View is wondering just what a jail stint would look like for the former president, who is now facing 40 criminal charges.

Sunny Hostin, who worked as a federal prosecutor for years before joining The View, told the panel that Trump is in a unique position because of his status.

“Most people aren’t allowed to go to Mar-a-Lago with a little ankle bracelet. Like, they just go to jail and then they wait for their appeal,” she said.

In Trump’s case, Hostin wondered, “How do you protect him? Do you put him in solitary confinement? It’s a very difficult situation.”

After an audience member supported the idea of Trump in solitary, Hostin laughed and clarified, “I didn’t say that!”

She added, “We’ve never had a constitutional crisis where the president is currently under indictment,” while Joy Behar chimed in with her own suggestion for Trump’s alternative to jail: “Maybe they should put him in a room with just us.”

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who used to work in the Trump administration, replied, “I don’t know who would break first!”

Later in the segment, Behar admitted she really didn’t care what happened to Trump in the end, as long as she never had to see him again. She turned to Hostin and asked her, “What about making a deal? What about, Sunny, if he makes a deal with [Special Counsel] Jack Smith — he says look, I’m going away, I’m moving to Saudi Arabia.”

The suggestion earned audible approval in The View studio, and Behar asked, “Wouldn’t that be good? Just go away. … I don’t even care if he goes to jail. I don’t have it in my heart to punish the guy. I just want him to go away and stop ruining my country. That’s all!”

Hostin suggested Behar’s idea actually wasn’t so far-fetched. She explained, “I think there are certain prosecutors that would offer him a plea agreement without time if he would agree to never run for public office again anywhere.”

Still, that wasn’t enough for Behar, who added, “And go away! I don’t even want to see him in The Enquirer.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Watch the full segment from this morning’s episode in the video above.
