Last night’s VMAs may have had some stellar performances (with some meme-inducing reactions) and backstage beef, but the true star of the show? Ben Affleck‘s newest Dunkin’ commercial.
The star and self-proclaimed Dunkin’ fanatic returned to rep his favorite coffee and donut stop, telling viewers that he received a “big promotion [to] brand ambassador” following his brief gig as a Dunkin’ drive-thru attendant featured in his iconic Super Bowl commercial.
While his wife Jennifer Lopez is absent from the commercial that premiered at last night’s VMAs, another star takes her place: Ice Spice.
In the commercial, the rapper joins forces with Affleck to promote the Ice Spice Munchkins Drink, a hybrid of Dunkin’s frozen coffee and pumpkin munchkins. Affleck and Ice Spice are seen brainstorming a name for the brand new beverage, one that Affleck says needs to be “authentic.”
“Ice Spice, my fans are the Munchkins,” the rapper reasons.
“Where are you going with this?” Affleck asks, prompting Ice Spice to reveal the name, “Ice Spice Munchkins Drink.”
Affleck then suggests a sort of collab as he breaks into a rough rap in which he utters the phrase “spit bars” and gives birth to the idea of “Vanilla Ice Spice,” seemingly a hybrid of rappers Vanilla Ice and Ice Spice.
“Pumpkin spice season has gotten a bit predictable lately, so we sought help from our friends Ben Affleck and Ice Spice to create a new pumpkin obsession that only Dunkin’ can offer,” said Dunkin’s Chief Marketing Officer Jill McVicar Nelson in a press release published yesterday (Sept. 12).
“The result? The collaboration you never knew you needed: Pumpkin Munchkins and Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee, blended together to create the Ice Spice MUNCHKINS® Drink. It’s fun, it’s delicious and it’s not your ordinary pumpkin drink!” the release added.
Ice Spice, who said she’s “always been a Dunkin’ girl,” gushed that “collaborating with Dunkin’ and Ben Affleck on this spot was a dream.”
“The drink has a fun twist, a little something in the name for my fans, too,” she continued. “I can’t wait for everyone to try it.”
Dunkin’s Ice Spice Munchkins Drink is now available nationwide through Oct. 31. Watch the commercial above.
