Tiffany Haddish Thanks Both Fans And Critics For “Making [Her] More Famous And Relevant” Following Her Wild Behavior At The VMAs

For Tiffany Haddish, it seems like any press is good press … at least, her reaction to fans pointing out her wild behavior at Tuesday’s (Sept. 12) VMAs appears to suggest as much.

Footage from the awards show shared on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) show the Haunted Mansion star fangirling over Shakira, who was honored with the Video Vanguard Award and also garnered the award for Best Collaboration for “TQG” with Karol G, per BuzzFeed.

One particular video shows Haddish screaming “Shakira, Shakira” in “Hips Don’t Lie” fashion, as she followed the singer and proceeded to photobomb a selfie she was taking with someone.

Haddish initially found the reactions to be “soooooo interesting” to her, as she wrote on X on Friday (Sept. 15).

“If you feel like I did to much All of y’all better be buying @shakira new album!” she said.

“This experience has Aloud me to realize how truly popular I am. I appreciate all of your opinions…,” she continued, thanking fans and wishing them “Shana Tova” (or “Happy New Year,” in honor of the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah, which took place on Friday).

Haddish was also seen freaking out for Rema and Selena Gomez after she announced them as the winner in the “Best Afrobeats” category for their song “Calm Down.”

While critics have since slammed Haddish’s behavior, deeming her a “certified weirdo” and requesting that she not be invited to “anymore award shows,” Haddish has taken the fallout in stride.

“When people make videos about me or talk about me Good or bad. I just think Thank you all for making me more famous and relevant,” she wrote on X on Saturday (Sept. 16).

She added, “I see it’s driving the enemy crazy cause they really want to be where I am, It will never happen.”

Haddish, who is “pivoting” into music with her new song “Till The Club Closes” that was released on Tuesday, told Elvis Duran on the Elvis Duran Show that the VMAs were “the most amazing night.”

She also talked acknowledged even more of her fangirling that wasn’t documented on social media, which involved spotting her “favorite rapper” Lil Wayne once she got to her seat.

“If I could be the female version of Lil Wayne but this beautiful, but like [Lil] Wayne, that’s what I would wanna to be,” she said.
