Adult Swim shared the opening credits for Rick and Morty Season 7 in anticipation for the upcoming season, and one big change caught our eyes. Did you catch that the new title card has removed both Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon’s names?

Drama? Well, not really. The alteration was expected as the latest season of Roiland’s other co-created series Solar Opposites did the same thing, after Adult Swim and Hulu severed ties with Roiland due to his domestic abuse charges and additional allegations of sexual harassment and abuse.

Now, the Rick and Morty title screen solely displays the title of the show with both creator credits removed, despite Harmon’s continued involvement. Originally, the title card would read, “created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon,” as shown in the image below.

For Solar Opposites, in lieu of being named in the opening credits, co-creator Mike McMahan was listed first in the text credits that follow the theme song and opening credits. Roiland’s name appeared in the sixteenth and final credit, listed as co-creator along with McMahan, after the executive producers, consulting producers, and actors.

Decider reached out to Adult Swim to confirm that the shared clip is the final cut of the opening credits and to inquire about additional information regarding the change but did not hear back by the time of publication.

Along with Adult Swim and Hulu, 20th TV Animation, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Squanch Games also ended their relationship with Roiland after he was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud and/or deceit. The charges were dropped in March due to lack of evidence, but since then, several others have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment. Earlier this month, Roiland was accused of grooming, sexual assault, and pursuing minors in an NBC report.

While fans are excited to see the new season of Rick and Morty, Adult Swim has yet to release information regarding the voice actor/s replacing Roiland in his roles as the title characters. In July,  an executive producer confirmed that the new voices will be “sound alikes” — different from Solar Opposites, which saw Roiland’s Korvo being replaced with British actor Dan Stevens and an absurd storyline that saw the alien character being hit with a voice-changing ray.

Popular guesses for Roiland’s replacement in Rick and Morty include Steven Ogg and Zack Synder, or Eric Bauza, who already took over one of Roiland’s supporting roles in Solar Opposites, or the usage of an artificial intelligence-generated voice

Setting aside the gossip surrounding the new voice actor, Adult Swim has made it clear, more than ever before, that they are locked and loaded to move on without the disgraced creator. And their dedication to stringing fans along for the voice actor reveal just further proves their confidence. See ya, wouldn’t want to be ya, Roiland!

Rick & Morty Season 7 premieres October 15, 2023 on Adult Swim.
