Whoopi Goldberg was quick to cast blame on The View‘s executive producer Brian Teta when she was forced to correct herself live on the air.

Following a fiery debate about aliens, Goldberg shifted to a different Hot Topics segment focusing on Deion Sanders, a former NFL and MLB player and the current head coach of the University of Colorado’s football team.

“Let’s talk about something else,” she said. “Deion Sanders, you know, he’s an amazing football man. He’s just wonderful, does all kinds of stuff. He’s the head coach of the Buffalo Bills now.”

While the University of Colorado’s football team is called the Buffalos, it is not the Buffalo Bills — which is the NFL team from Upstate New York. Following her flub, audience members were quick to call her out.

“Gee, I wonder who told me this,” Goldberg sarcastically said, looking in Teta’s direction as she reached for a pen and corrected her notes.

As Teta shrugged his shoulders, Sunny Hostin called the error a “fair mistake” since the Colorado Buffalos sounds “very similar” to the Buffalo Bills.

“Ah, who cares? No one cares! Move on,” Joy Behar chimed in, to which Goldberg fired back, “Somebody cared enough to tell me to correct me. Of course she cares. But here’s the point!”

In a clip from a recent interview, Sanders revealed that he ranks his kids and admitted that parents “don’t” love them all the same, sparking backlash from many. Still, Goldberg understood his reasoning.

“I only had one kid and she was not always my favorite,” she fessed up. “I mean, I love you now. There are days even when you only have one, it’s not your favorite. And days where you just can’t go on and on enough about them. “

Goldberg added, “This is a father who is dedicated to his kids. There is no question about love in this family. This is an incredible family.”

As far as the confusion about his football team, The View was not the only daytime talk show to make the mistake. While Mark Consuelos discussed Sanders’ viral sunglasses on Tuesday’s (Sept. 19) episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa was just as lost as Goldberg.

“They are kind of cool though, aren’t they,” she said, referring to his accessory. “No disrespect to the [Oregon] Ducks but the … Buffalo Bills? The Buffalos’ coach has the coolest shades.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
