Will There Be a Season 5 of ‘Sex Education’ on Netflix?

Raise your hand if you already devoured all eight episodes of Sex Education Season 4 on Netflix. If your hand is up, don’t worry. We’re right there with you.

The fourth and final season of Laurie Nunn’s fervently adored young adult comedy recently dropped on the streamer and… man oh man are we going to miss this show. A beacon of inclusion and sincerity, Sex Education is one of those rare shows that truly makes you feel. Everyone can find someone they relate to in the final season as Sex Education once again examines the universal feeling of insecurity and wraps it in a warm blanket of hope and understanding.

As we mentioned above, the fourth season is set to be the final installment of the series. What exactly does that mean for a potential Season 5 of Sex Education? Here’s everything you need to know.

How Many Episodes Are There of Sex Education?

The series consists of four seasons and 32 total episodes.

Will There Be a Season 5 of Sex Education?

Sadly, the fourth season of Sex Education is officially the final installment of the series. While there are no current plans for a fifth season, it’s always possible that the show could eventually return, perhaps for a movie or a limited series.

“I’m definitely taking a break and thinking about other things,” series creator Laurie Nunn told Tudum. “But Moordale is a really rich world, and writing about teenagers is always a lot of fun. So, I think that there’s always potential for more to be explored in that world.”

Do Otis and Maeve End Up Together?

Decider recently published an article explaining how the story ended for all your Moordale favorites. Otis and Maeve didn’t end up together romantically, but the two parted on good terms.

In the penultimate episode of the series, Otis and Maeve amicably break up after Maeve decides to return to the States to continue her studies at Wallace University. The two have sex. The next morning, Maeve leaves for America (after spreading her mom’s ashes with Aimee and Isaac).

After returning to Wallace, Maeve receives a phone call from Goodhart Books, who are interested in her novel (Southchester). The series concludes with Otis reading a sincere note Maeve left for him, which ends with Maeve saying that she’ll never “close herself off again.”

“Meeting you cracked my heart open, and now it’s forever changed. And because of that, I will carry a part of you with me wherever I go. I think what I’m trying to say is… thanks for everything… dickhead.”
