Bachelor in Paradise‘s Season 9 premiere ended with a new arrival on the beach, but we’ll have to wait until next week’s episode to see how things play out. After receiving several shoutouts throughout the first episode, Aven Jones, a former contestant on The Bachelorette Season 19, unknowingly walked down the Paradise stairs into a love triangle? Or a love square? Like we said, we’ll have to wait and see.

On top of reuniting with his ex Rachel Recchia, Kylee Russell and Olivia Lewis from Zach Shallcross’ season of The Bachelor both have their eyes on Aven. So Paradise is about to get a lot messier. In her intro video, Kylee said she was essentially only in Paradise for Aven. The two never met before the beach, but they flirtatiously like each other’s Instagram photos, so she felt the spark was already there. And Olivia was initially interested in Will Urena, but after Kylee took him on a date, Olivia decided she to go after Aven as revenge.

Who Is Aven Jones?

According to Jones’ official ABC bio from the 2022 Bachelorette season, he’s a (then 28-year-old) sales executive from San Diego, California. “Aven’s life is fueled by passion. Whether he’s slaying the sales game at work or hooping on the weekend, Aven puts his heart into everything he does,” his bio reads. “He tries to approach love with the same mentality but has yet to find his perfect match. Aven wants a woman who is loyal, honest and able to organically bring out his fun side. She should love to travel as much as he does and will value quality time together above all else. Aven wants to build a meaningful relationship that goes deeper than the surface and when he meets the right one, he is ready to put it all out there if it means finding his forever.”

How Did Aven’s Relationship With Bachelorette Rachel Recchia End?

Aven and Rachel were nearly endgame, but in the final hours of their journey, the two disagreed over Aven’s readiness to get engaged at the end of filming. “I want to leave here with you,” he assured her. “I want that more than anything and I’m sitting here trying to fight for it.”

She tearfully questioned his intentions and said, “It really hurts to hear you tell me one thing and then say you got caught up in it with me. But I think you need to know that I want to be engaged, I want someone who’s sure about me, and I’m not willing to sacrifice that at the end of the day…”

After an emotional goodbye, Rachel ended the journey engaged to Tino Franco. The two promptly split after filming, and at “After The Final Rose” Aven said, “This is tough and you don’t deserve any of this. I was wondering if you wanted to get out of here and catch up?” Rachel replied, “I would love nothing more.” And the two left together.

Rachel confirmed to Variety that she and Aven weren’t officially back together after that, but she said, “I’m so happy to have seen him, and who knows that the future is going to hold.
