Members of Bachelor Nation who tuned into the franchise’s Thursday night premiere lineup likely experienced the biggest emotional whiplash in Bachelor history.

From 8:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. ET we swooned over 72-year-old Gerry Turner’s wholesome search for love with 22 sparkling senior sweethearts on The Golden Bachelor. And from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. we listened to Bachelor in Paradise‘s Season 9 cast have heated conversations about sucking toes on a beach in Mexico.

Though no toes were sucked in the making of this episode (as far as I know), in the history of primetime ABC television — dare I say TV in general — I’m not sure there has ever been more talk of sucking toes in a two-hour span than there was in the Bachelor in Paradise premiere. And 24-year-old Olivia Lewis, a 24-year-old from Zach Shallcross’ season of The Bachelor, is to blame.

After the original Season 9 cast mates got settled on the beach, Olivia and Will Urena (who you may remember form Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette) cozied up on a Paradise couch and got to know each other a bit. The small talk started off cute, but for reasons unknown, Olivia went from zero to “would you suck my toes?” in the blink of an eye. After ranking her own toes “12 out of 10 suckable,” she continued to press Will in hopes of goading him to put her foot in his mouth.

In Olivia’s extremely light defense, Will played along at first. The only reason she brought the NSFTV topic is because he said he wanted a girl who took care of herself and got pedicures like she did. He commented on her “pretty” toes, but when the conversation continued, Will said what we were all thinking: “What?! Suck your toes?! This escalated quickly.”

The conversation likely could have stopped there, but Will kept going. “They do look good and you smell good, so I wonder what they taste like,” he said, causing Paradise producers to caption his name card, “Will, Amenable To Sucking Toes.” But when Will realized Olivia was serious about him proving his interest in her in such an uncommon way, he pointed out that her toes were covered in sand, rendering them un-suckable.

This man clearly underestimated how into toe sucking his girl was, though. Because Olivia sprinted to the ocean to wash her feet in hopes that clean toes would change his mind. (Though let the record show they were still sandy.) When the duo sat down again, Olivia picked up right where they left off. She wanted her toes sucked, dang it! “They look a little more suckable now — now that they’re clean and crispy white, I’d start on the big toe and work my way down,” Will said. Instead, he started off with a kiss, which successfully distracted Olivia from the toe sucking — but not for long.

As the rest of the episode unfolded, talk of the toe sucking spread through the beach, and contestants — even Wells Adams — were all chatting about what the Paradise bartender called an “NC-17 convo.”

“I’ve never sucked a toe, but I could be open to sucking a toe,” former Bachelorette Rachel Recchia said. “I mean if all we’re talking about is toes maybe I’m missing out on something. I could put a toe in my mouth, probably. I put a lot of other things in there, so I don’t know why a toe would be different,” she laughed.

When Will left on a date with Kylee without talking to Olivia first, the Shallcross season alum began weaponizing the toe sucking convo against Will — spinning it from a playful anecdote about flirting to proof of his commitment to (and betrayal of) her. “That seems kinda messed up. You can’t say, ‘Hey you got suckable toes’ and then go on a date with somebody else, right? It’s getting crazy out there,” Adams said. “A lot of weird stuff’s happened on Day 1, but toe sucking? So gross.”

The morning after Kylee and Will’s date, he asked Olivia to talk and apologized for the way things went down. She told him she felt incredibly disrespected — especially after their kiss and meaningful conversation, and a baffled Will replied, “You were talking to me about sucking toes!”

“If you’re talking to me about toes, I don’t think that a kiss was too far off,” he said. “You literally went in the ocean to wash off your toes to try to get me to suck your toes.”

One thing I should also note, is that Bachelor in Paradise grabbed outrageous close-ups of Olivia’s feet during major toe sucking discussions. Podiatrists, people with foot fetishes, and maybe Bob Odenkirk or Travis Barker (JK he probaby only has eyes for Kourney’s toes) would be in their own personal paradise watching this episode. But fans with a healthy view of feet quickly had enough.

By the end of the two hours, the toe talk ceased and Olivia shifted her sights from Will to new-arrival, Aven Jones. But is Aven DTST? (Down To Suck Toes.) Tune in next week to find out.
