Netflix is serving up some incredible content this October in the form of films and specials that will do everything from take your breath away with immersive action and drama to transport you on an epic international and multi-lingual journey from the comforts of home. Whether you’re looking for something haunting, informative, or funny, Netflix has got you covered. Keep reading for the streamer’s best new movies coming in October.

Netflix is releasing two of its biggest new original films towards the latter half of the month as it drops Chris Evans and Emily Blunt-led crime-drama Pain Hustlers as well as Bill Burr-helmed comedy Old Dads, which both poised to potentially land in the Netflix Top 10.

Backtracking to the first half of the month, Netflix will debut some heart-pounding new woman-led thrillers that will immerse you in stories of eroticism and mystery like in Fair Play, as well as in revenge and grief like in Ballerina.

Lastly, all throughout the October streaming slate are some ghoulishly good titles that will get you in the scary spirit just in time for Halloween. In particular, you should be sure to look out for horror short film Flashback and crime-horror documentary The Devil on Trial.

    After losing her job, blue-collar woman Liza Drake (Emily Blunt) is struggling to raise her daughter on her own. Her fortunes suddenly change, however, when she crosses paths with pharmaceutical sales rep Pete Brenner (Chris Evans) and begins joining the failing start-up of which he is a part. Under Liza’s influence, the company grows successful, but the further she rises and more money she makes, the deeper Liza gets in a dangerous racketeering scheme and dark work environment, forcing her to rethink her choices and life trajectory.

    If you’re looking for a laugh this month, be sure to check out Old Dads, a Netflix Original comedy directed and co-written by Bill Burr. The film follows three best friends (Burr, Bobby Cannavale, Bokeem Woodbine) who have all become fathers later in life and now find themselves out-of-step with the modern world after selling their business to a new millennial CEO. They may be behind the times but that doesn’t mean they aren’t willing to try to learn new things, even if their efforts don’t always end in success.

    This Netflix Original erotic thriller pushes one recently engaged couple to the brink as a coveted promotion at their cutthroat financial firm threatens to tear the once-supportive lovers apart. With Emily (Phoebe Dynevor) and Luke (Alden Ehrenreich) both in the running for the job, power dynamics shift and their relationship becomes taken over by their respective ambitions and drives to do whatever necessary to reach individual success, even at the cost of their love.

The film revolves around a yoga teacher (Jemma Moore) as her life quite literally flashes before her eyes in the midst of a deadly home invasion that sends her on a journey through her past in order to rescue the man she loves.

    Camp Courage is a Netflix Original documentary short that follows a young girl named Milana and her grandmother, Olga, during a week-long stay at a summer camp in the Austrian Alps in 2022. Both refugees of the war in Ukraine, Olga and Milana demonstrate and test their courage while strengthening their relationship with one another while traversing the camp’s mountainous terrain in the wake of their own displacement.
