Home Improvement actor Zachery Ty Bryan was released from jail this weekend after being arrested for the third time. But Bryan’s attorney, John J. Kolego, claimed his arrest did not stem from another incident, and was instead a technical violation.

TMZ reports that the actor was arrested on Thursday (Sept. 28) after he failed to charge his ankle monitor by accident, as per his previous release agreement. Kolego claimed Bryan was taken into custody during a pre-trial court office appearance on Thursday.

The actor was released Sunday (Oct. 1) after posting bail for an unspecified amount.

Kolego also told the outlet that Bryan “is looking forward to exonerating himself at trial” after he was arrested in July for domestic violence.

This is just the latest in a string of legal troubles the Home Improvement star has faced in recent years.

His July arrest occurred after an alleged domestic violence dispute with an unnamed woman. He was charged with felony assault in violation of the Abuse Prevention Act, or when someone is accused of attacking someone who had a restraining order against them for domestic violence. This was the second time he was arrested in a domestic violence incident.

He faced charges in fourth-degree assault and third-degree robbery, as well as a misdemeanor claim of harassment.

He was previously charged with felony strangulation in October 2020 after an incident with Johnnie Faye Cartwright, with whom he shares three children and later got engaged to. The actor downplayed the incident later, claiming it “got so blown out of proportion,” per The Hollywood Reporter.

The Hollywood Reporter report from earlier this year also detailed a fraudulent scam he led. Four separate sources accused him of stealing almost $50,000 from them in a scheme involving an agricultural tech company.

Tim Allen, who played his father in the hit sitcom Home Improvement, recently addressed Bryan’s recent arrests.

“Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man. All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process,” he said in June. “At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can’t control.”

Allen admitted he doesn’t “know what’s going on with him,” saying, “I don’t know what happens when people get corrupted. You just don’t know.”
