John Oliver Can’t Get Over Lauren Boebert’s Viral ‘Beetlejuice’ Video On ‘Last Week Tonight’: “If You’re Gonna Get Your Nipples Tweaked And Your Pipes Squeaked, You Save That Sh*t For ‘Fiddler’”

John Oliver had Lauren Boebert on the mind during his highly anticipated return to Last Week Tonight. On the first episode since the WGA strike ended, which aired on Sunday night (Oct. 1), the comedian trolled the Colorado representative for getting kicked out of a musical last month.

Boebert was removed from a performance of Beetlejuice: The Musical in September for vaping around a pregnant woman, being disruptive, and, as Too Hot to Handle would say: heavy petting with her date. While Oliver didn’t want to “get bogged down” on the viral surveillance video since it was an “old story,” he couldn’t help but continue to bring it up.

“It was Beetlejuice, by the way. That was the musical Lauren Boebert was watching,” he said, cutting off his own discussion about Italy’s economy. “I’m not saying it would be appropriate to engage in high school freshman ear or hands stuff during a production of any musical. But I just wanted to be absolutely clear that this wasn’t  one of the more explicitly sexual ones like Spring Awakening or Rocky Horror or Cats.”

Oliver continued, “This was Beetlejuice, a show that’s quite loudly about death. I’m just saying, if you’re gonna get your nipples tweaked and your pipes squeaked, you save that shit for Fiddler like a goddamn adult.”

The host tried to pivot back to the discussion about Italy, but was quickly derailed again by Boebert’s incident. According to Oliver, the Republican politician asked security, “Do you know who I am?” and threatened to call the mayor, which he said were “two catastrophically bad decisions.”

“If you’ve been caught for, again, sexual activity during Beetlejuice: The Musical, you would hope no one knew who you were,” he said. “And you definitely wouldn’t want to immediately get on the phone with the mayor to tell him what had just happened.”

Oliver added, “Sadly, this has derailed me so much, I don’t even have time to talk about Italy’s economic struggles anymore. So much like Lauren Boebert and the musical Beetlejuice, you’ll never get to know how it all turns out.”
