Vanna White was nowhere to be found on Monday night’s (Oct. 2) episode of Wheel of Fortune, and it turns out she’ll be missing from behind the letter board for the rest of the week.

In August, Decider reported that White would be missing a from a few episodes this fall due to illness. During last night’s episode, Pat Sajak revealed that she had tested positive for COVID-19.

“The good news is, I talked to her just a little while ago, and she feels fine,” Sajak told the studio audience. “She had a little sniffle, but she tested positive. And that’s the way it goes.”

In honor of Teacher’s Week, fans were met with a new face in White’s place: Bridgette Donald-Blue, who was crowned as 2023 California Teacher of the Year. Donald-Blue, who teaches mathematics, shared that she was “tremendously excited” when she “got the call to be a part of Wheel of Fortune for Teacher’s Week.”

“It was a great opportunity to champion the cause of education, the work that teachers do every day,” she explained. “Wheel of Fortune, you’re the best. Thank you.”

Season 41 has been historic thus far for both White and Sajak. White reportedly scored a pay raise in her two-year contract extension, while Sajak began his final season as WoF host, having announced his retirement from the show in June.

Meanwhile, Sajak’s successor Ryan Seacrestcan’t wait to take over after the legendary Pat Sajak,” and has been eager to work with White, whom he described to People as “the most lovely person.”

“We’ve known each other for a long time, and I think we both feel excitement about all of this,” he told the outlet.
