After Drew Barrymore faced the social media hellfire that forced her to temporarily hit pause on her self-titled daytime talk show, she officially announced a new premiere date. The Drew Barrymore Show Season 4 — which was originally supposed to premiere on Sept. 18 — will now begin airing on Monday, Oct. 16.

The show’s X (formerly known as Twitter) handle posted the news today — less than a month after Barrymore walked back her decision to forge on amid the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which officially came to an end last week.

Barrymore initially faced backlash after deciding to bring back her talk show amid the WGA strike, which had been going on since early May. The actress stood by the choice at first, promising her followers that the show would be in “compliance” with the rules set forth by both the WGA and the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

After facing even more public scrutiny and getting dropped as the host of the National Book Awards, Barrymore doubled down on her decision to bring the show back in a lengthy, tear-filled video that was later removed from her Instagram page.

“I know there’s just nothing I can do that will make this OK for those it is not OK with,” she said in the video. “I fully accept that. I fully understand that. There are so many reasons why this is so complex. And I just want everyone to know my intentions have never been in a place to upset or hurt anyone. That’s not who I am.”

However, one day before the show was set to return, Barrymore made the final decision to hit “pause” until the strike ended.

“I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over,” she wrote on her social media page. “I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today. We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon.”

Now that things are somewhat back to normal, you can catch The Drew Barrymore Show Season 4 when it premieres Oct. 16. Check the website for local listings.
