Southern Charm star Cameran Eubanks almost ditched Charleston for New York when a seat opened up on The View. According to the hit daytime talk show’s executive producer Brian Teta, Eubanks was one of the potential candidates interested in auditioning for Meghan McCain‘s spot at the Hot Topics table.

On Monday’s episode (Oct. 2) of the Behind the Table podcast, Alyssa Farah Griffin — who ultimately nabbed the gig in 2022 — said she’s “obsessed” with the current season of Southern Charm, prompting Teta to make the revelation.

“At one point, a Southern Charm cast member was interested in auditioning for your job, when you were auditioning for the job,” he said. “It was very exciting. It did not pan out.”

While neither Griffin nor Teta named exactly who they were talking about, a source confirmed to Decider that it was Eubanks, who officially left her job on the Bravo reality series after Season 6 in 2019. Plus, a 2021 press release states that the Southern Charm personality was slated to guest co-host throughout Season 25 as one of the conservative voices — but Teta said she never actually ended up coming on the show.

“I know because I was like, ‘That’s very stiff competition,'” Griffin recalled. “One of our beloved producers blurted out to me that she wanted me to get the job, or Paige DeSorbo, who’s never even auditioned, but she’s on Summer House. I was like, ‘What? You’re team Paige over Alyssa?’ But, she would be fun on a talk show.”

Decider has reached out to a rep for Eubanks for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

The real estate agent wasn’t the only Bravolebrity who had eyes on McCain’s seat. Former Real Housewives of New York City star Eboni K. Williams — who appeared on the last season of the reality show before it was rebooted with a new cast — was also among the group of guest co-hosts who filled in before Griffin and Ana Navarro were officially hired full-time.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
