There has been nothing more heartbreaking in Kardashian history than watching Khloé Kardashian repeatedly get her heart stomped on by Tristan Thompson. In the latest episode of The Kardashians, the NBA player reflects on his actions in a candid heart-to-heart with the reality star.

Tristan begins the convo by blaming his toxic mentality on growing up in the world of sports.

“We’re groomed to be like so tough with a ‘fuck you’ mentality,” he says. “We’re in a competition with a field of so many people that’s a dog-eat-dog world and it wasn’t until I really had to look at myself that I was like, ‘I need to hold myself accountable.’”

He continues, “We’re taught like, be the man, do what you please, bros over hoes, all these stupid words … You’ve got to just like be your own man and don’t care what people think and don’t feel like you have to get validation from others.”

Tristan, who has a six-year-old son from a previous relationship, first cheated on Khloé days before she gave birth to their daughter in 2018. A year later — after Khloé had taken him back — he was caught smooching Kylie Jenner‘s best friend, Jordyn Woods. Then, in 2021, shortly after their surrogate became pregnant with their son, it was revealed that Tristan recently fathered a baby with another woman.

While chatting with Khloé, he expresses his fear over what his kids will think of him once they find out about his scandals.

“True’s understanding stuff, Prince understands things,” Tristan says of his two eldest children. “They go to school and they have classmates. The last thing I want them to do is ever feel embarrassed that I’m their father.”

In the lengthy conversation, Khloé — who promises they will never be anything more than friends and co-parents — assures Tristan that he can change for himself.

“You’re a good person at your core. That’s why I was with you,” she explains. “Everyone has done dumb shit in their life, just not everyone does it on a public platform, which sucks. But just like you can do dumb shit publicly, you can do incredible shit publicly. … You’re not your past, your past doesn’t define you.”

The Good American founder adds that she’s “proud” of the way she conducts herself with her ex-boyfriend — who’s been living in her house ever since his roof collapsed and his mother died.

“What happened between Tristan and I was not some small little incident,” she says in her confessional. “It was a massive situation that really was a very traumatic experience for me in my life. So I’m not gonna forget it.”

She continues, “But I’m so proud that I’m able to be kind and mature and show my children that Mommy and Daddy can co-exist and be co-parents and I’m able to be here for him in his time of need. Someone that I did not even really want to look at just a couple months ago, I have living under my roof.”

I think we can all agree that Khloé is earning her several lifetimes of good karma.
