Sullivan’s Crossing is a new small-town drama on The CW with absolutely picturesque views.

Adapted from books by best-selling Virgin River author Robyn Carr, the series follows Maggie (Morgan Kohan), an award-winning neurosurgeon who flees Boston in the midst of a life crisis and returns home to the quaint, wooded town of Sullivan’s Crossing, where her estranged father Sully (Scott Patterson), her childhood bestie Sydney (Lindura), a handsome stranger named Cal (Murray), and those aforementioned views await.

Like Virgin River (and beloved CW dramas Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill), the setting of Sullivan’s Crossing captivates and comforts viewers, lending added charm and intrigue to the series.

So where is Sullivan’s Crossing filmed? We’ve got the answer below, along with thoughts on the beautiful location from stars Murray and Patterson.

Where Is Sullivan’s Crossing Filmed?

If you’re wondering where to book your Sullivan’s Crossing-inspired vacation, you’re in luck. The series films in Halifax, Nova Scotia! Where is Nova Scotia, you ask? Great question! It’s in eastern Canada! And according to the cast, it doesn’t disappoint.

“Honestly every time I go to work, and I’m on set, it’s a breath of fresh air because we’re out in the middle of nowhere. We’re out on the water, we’re on the lake [in] nature, and you’re just one with the world. It’s so peaceful,” Murray said in a phone interview with Decider. “In between takes when we’re setting up you can just go out and breathe fresh air. Or during lunch breaks the crew is swimming in the lake. It really does feel so peaceful, and this place reminds me very much of another show that I was on. It’s very reminiscent. And I think people are gonna want to come and visit this place. I think Sullivan’s Crossing is a character in this story, so very much that I think people are gonna want to come check it out. And I highly recommend that they do because Halifax, Nova Scotia is a gem. I love it.”

Murray, who’s “practically Canadian” since he grew up in Buffalo, New York, relocated to Nova Scotia with his family for filming. And though his co-star Patterson hates being apart from his own family during production, that doesn’t make the views any less special.

“This is tops. This is a beautiful place. I mean every day, if we’re not on the stage, we’re out in nature. And even surrounding the soundstage are wonderful nature views,” Patterson told Decider. “The people here are very warm and welcoming. So I can see how Sullivan’s Crossing really translates here and borrows from Canadian culture as well, because it’s so welcoming and warm. Just really lovely people here. It’s hard to be away from my family for a month at a time or whatever it is. But if you’re gonna do that, this is a pretty nice place to be and work.”

Per Halifax’s website, there are all sorts of attractions — from beaches, parks, and trails to Sullivan’s Crossing-esque campgrounds, cottages, and even attractions from the show, like Luke’s Small Goods (a real small business, not an intentionally-crafted Gilmore Girls Easter egg).

Want to see more of the Canadian gem? New episodes of Sullivan’s Crossing air Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. on The CW and are available for free next-day streaming on CWTV.com.
