Fans of Apple TV+‘s The Morning Show will know that one of the best storylines this season has to do with Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and her new, uh, friendship with billionaire tycoon Paul Marks (Jon Hamm). The two have flirted at Coney Island, gone off-roading together, and in The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 6 “The Stanford Student,” finally take their relationship to the next level. Alex interviews Paul. Wait, no, that’s not the big deal thing that happens with Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hamm’s characters on The Morning Show this week, is it?

**Spoilers for The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 6 “The Stanford Student,” now streaming on Apple TV+**

Alex Levy and Paul Marks finally hook up on The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 6. After Paul uses charm and a wild amount of self-awareness to accept Alex’s big gotcha question during their interview, the journalist’s crush on the billionaire is off the charts. After the news crew packs up for the day, leaving Alex alone at Paul’s Hamptons estate, the two finally flirt, kiss and have hot, steamy, grownup sex.

The flirtation kicks off with Paul challenging Alex on how she knew he stole an idea from a Stanford student in the first place, before complimenting her on her gutsy approach. “I like that you went there,” he says. “Most people in your position wouldn’t come after me like that, but you did. Impressive.”

The double meanings continue as Alex explains that the network has certain standards and even if Paul’s deal to buy UBA goes through, “it’s not like we’re in bed together.”

As the two adults confirm they are not metaphorically or literally in bed together, and they should certainly keep it that way, you know that they’re not. They want to be in bed together. Paul kisses Alex and — after a minor pause — they go to bed. The sex scene itself isn’t R-rated in the least, but through careful editing, seems as steamy as can be. Of course, the real reason why it’s so hot is because it’s Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hamm.

I’ve watched a lot of sex scenes in my life and Jennifer Aniston and Jon Hamm’s onscreen hookup was a rare delight. Not because I got to watch two insanely famous people strip down on screen. Rather, the Alex and Paul romance works because two of the most profoundly charismatic and aesthetically beautiful people who have ever been on TV get to show off their craft. It might sound like a no brainer, but two actors known for their charisma pop even more when they’re playing off each other.

There’s also something to be said for the fact that The Morning Show maybe — just maybe — has finally broken free of the shadow of sexual trauma that defined its earliest #MeToo-inspired storylines. Mitch Kessler (Steve Carell) is dead. Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) has wandered into a January 6 storyline wherein she’s committing crimes to keep her insurrectionist brother out of prison. Maybe — again, just maybe — someone on this show can enjoy a little sex for once.
