Peacock has renewed Based on a True Story for a second season.

The comedic thriller, which stars Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina, will be returning for Season 2 according to Variety.

The series is a true crime spoof that centers on a Los Angeles couple who team up with an unlikely ally to produce a hit true-crime podcast.

Although the plot details of the second season have not yet been revealed, Season 1 saw Ava (Cuoco) and Nathan (Messina) cross paths with an infamous serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles, who agrees to make a true crime podcast with the duo.

In addition to Cuoco and Messina, Season 1 of Based on a True Story also starred Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, Liana Liberato, Natalia Dyer, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, June Diane Raphael, Jessica St. Clair, Claire Holt, Belmont Cameli, Aaron Staton, Yvonne Senat Jones, Lizze Broadway, Ever Carradine, Alex Alomar Akpobome, Aisha Alfa, Li Jun Li, Brandon Keener, Miles Mussenden, Sebastian Quinn and Timm Sharp.

Based on a True Story is produced by Universal Content Productions and was created by Craig Rosenberg (The Boys and Gen V), who also serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner.

Cuoco also executive produces along with Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan for their Aggregate Films banner. Roxie Rodriguez of Aggregate co-executive produces alongside Melissa Blake. Alex Buono, who directed two episodes, also serves as executive producer.

Peacock has not yet revealed when it plans to release Season 2.
