Julia Louis-Dreyfus Says She Knows Nothing About Any ‘Seinfeld’ Reboot

There has recently been some buzz about a potential Seinfeld reboot, but one of the show’s main stars has revealed that she knows nothing about the project.

Last week Jerry Seinfield, who co-created and starred in the long-running NBC sitcom that ran from 1989 to 1998, hinted that he and co-creator Larry David have been talking about doing something to fix the show’s ending.

During his stand-up show last weekend, Seinfeld told the audience: “Something is going to happen that has to do with that ending. It hasn’t happened yet. Just what you are thinking about, Larry and I have also been thinking about. So, you’ll see.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who portrayed Seinfeld’s ex-girlfriend Elaine in the show, was asked about the rumors while making her press rounds for her new film Tuesday, but told The Guardian that she hasn’t heard anything.

“Yeah, I just saw [that news] last night,” she said. “And I don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.”

The series, which totaled 180 episodes over nine seasons, aired its finale in 1998, which was watched by 76 million viewers in the US. The episode saw Seinfeld and his crew, Elaine, George (Jason Alexander) and Cosmo (Michael Richards) get questioned during a trial in Massachusetts for joking about a stranger’s mugging, and are found guilty of criminal indifference.

Since the series ended, Louis-Dreyfus has starred in such titles as HBO‘s hit series Veep (2012-19) and films such as Enough Said (2013) and You Hurt My Feelings earlier this year.

The actress plays a single mother who is in denial about her teenage daughter’s (Lola Petticrew) terminal illness in her latest film Tuesday, which premiered at the London film festival this week. There has already been some talk about potential award nominations for her role.
