‘Dr. Wolf’ Medical Drama Starring Zachary Quinto Gets Series Order At NBC

Dr. Wolf, a brand new medical drama that’s inspired by the late neurologist Oliver Sacks, has been granted a series order at NBC.

The network chose to move forward with the show, which follows extraordinary neurologist Oliver Wolf (Zachary Quinto) and his team of interns as they explore the human mind, while tackling their own relationship and mental health struggles.

Michael Grassi, who serves as writer and executive producer, along with director and executive producer Lee Toland Krieger created the show. According to Deadline, it was NBC’s last 2023 pilot to decide on.

The drama is inspired by the books “The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat” and “An Anthropologist on Mars,” by Sacks, who died in 2015 at 82. His book, “Awakenings,” had been the inspiration for the 1990 film of the same name starring Robert De Niro and Robin Williams.

In addition to Quinto, the series will star Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alexander MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, and Teddy Sears.

Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman (Berlanti); Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate (Fabel); Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant (The Imaginarium); and DeMane Davis, will all executive produce.

Dr. Wolf will be produced by Berlanti Productions, Fabel Entertainment and The Imaginarium in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
