David Beckham‘s former assistant Rebecca Loos is firing back at the way he addresses their alleged affair in his new Netflix docuseries, Beckham. According to Loos, the soccer champion portrays himself as a “victim,” while trying to make her look like a “liar.”

In 2004, Loos claimed that she and Beckham — who was already married to wife Victoria Beckham at the time — had slept together. The athlete has always denied the accusations, though speaks to the “horrible” stories that put “pressure” on his marriage in the four-part series.

“Victoria is everything to me,” he says nearly two decades after the incident, per Insider. “To see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters and at that time we needed to fight for each other, we needed to fight for our family, and what we had was worth fighting for.”

In a new interview with The Daily Mail, Loos slammed Beckham for rehashing the scandal.

“He’s making himself the victim and making me look like the liar. He’s making me look like Ive made up these horrible stories,” she told the outlet. “I’m the one that’s made Victoria suffer. Poor him. He’s had nothing to do with this and it was so awful.”

She continued, “I think it’s one thing if you don’t want to take responsibility for things at home because of your family and your children, that’s absolutely fine. And if he hadn’t even mentioned any of that and just said, ‘It was a tough time for us,’ and moved on, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Loos acknowledged that the stories were “horrible,” but doubled down that they were also “true.” She further blasted Beckham for making it sound as though she was the one responsible for his wife’s suffering.

“He’s the one that’s caused the suffering. It’s his behavior. It’s his lying,” she said. “If I don’t speak, if I remain silent, I will be known as the liar — the one who made up the stories.”

She added, “I think if he was going to touch on this time and how difficult it was, it would have been really nice for him to have said, ‘[It was] not my proudest time. It was a tough time for us.’ Something like that. Maybe a little bit of acknowledgment. Or no acknowledgment at all and don’t even touch the subject.”

Decider has reached out to reps for Beckham, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

Beckham is now streaming on Netflix.
