Mauricio Umansky is clearing the air around his relationship with Dancing with the Stars partner, Emma Slater, claiming their chemistry is bound to the dance floor.

Earlier this week, the two were caught holding hands by TMZ, sparking chatter in the wake of Umansky’s recent divorce from ex-wife and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards

According to Entertainment Weekly, Umansky and Slater posted a joint Instagram story in which they explained that they “are not dating.”

“We do want to address this story, this whole thing that’s going out and about, about whether Emma and I are dating, about whether we went out on a date,” the story began. “For full clarity, we are not dating.”

The real estate CEO said that he and Slater went out to dinner to deal with a “very emotional week,” during which he marked his “most memorable year” as 1996 — the year he married Richards — on DWTS.

In a post he shared on Instagram on Tuesday (Oct. 24), he wrote that he and Slater’s performance was “about life and how it’s not always perfect.”

He continued, “And when you think it’s impossible to move mountains and you’re at your lowest moment and you think all doors are closed you need to rise up and rise unafraid and move mountains.”

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday night (Oct. 25), Richards reacted to the photos of Umansky and Slater holding hands, telling host Andy Cohen she was “taken aback” by seeing them, and that she felt “hurt” by the images.

She also spoke out on this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark about how she’s “not exactly living [her] best life” amid the “uncharted territory” she and Umansky are going through.

“Fortunately, it is amicable, but it’s hard,” she shared. “My main concern is our daughters, who have been amazing — my four best friends. It’s just… it is hard.”

Dancing with the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
