Bill Maher Interviews Disgraced NY Gov Andrew Cuomo, Who Is Still Blaming Others For His Downfall: “Cancel Culture On Steroids at The Highest Level”

Former Democratic Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo appeared on yesterday’s Real Time with Bill Maher alongside his former Chief of Staff, Melissa DeRosa, ready to point some fingers in regards to his own recent downfall in the wake of sexual harassment allegations.

Speaking to Bill Maher on his weekly HBO talk show, Cuomo spoke out against the fellow party members, including President Joe Biden, who abandoned him following the multiple claims of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior from the former governor that broke out and forced his resignation in 2021.

“I believe we now have fear-driven politics,” Cuomo began. “On the right and the left. And the moderate Democrats are afraid of that far left. So when you say ‘sexual harassment,’ they right away are ready to jump, right? And that can be manipulated by the way. This cancel culture, it’s a loaded gun, and they can use it against anyone, any time, even for their self interest.”

Cuomo lamented to Maher about the “absurd length” of public outcry and response to his allegations, and blamed politics for taking things too far, saying, “It’s cancel culture on steroids at the highest level.”

Cuomo also claimed that after facing allegations of his own, President Biden could have supported him instead of asking him to resign. Cuomo went on to say that if Biden had done so, perhaps he would be running against the current president in this upcoming election.

Though he is not running for president, Cuomo told Maher that he hopes another Democrat will step up to challenge President Biden for candidacy.

“I don’t know that candidate Biden is the strongest candidate that we can put up and frankly, I doubt it.”

Additionally, to have another Democrat as president, Cuomo expressed the importance of his party engaging with real people and voters on a whole new level.

“You can’t run on banking that the other guy is gonna lose. You have to have an affirmative strategy to win.”

He went on to discuss the necessity of addressing a “paralysis of government,” with particular focus on crime.

“We have a real crime problem in this nation. Well, after George Floyd, everybody hates police. Yes, you need better police and better trained police, but ‘defund the police’ were the three dumbest words ever uttered by the democratic party.”
