Almost three months following King of the Hill star Johnny Hardwick‘s passing, the cause of death has been deemed undetermined due to “extensive decompositional changes,” per TMZ.

According to an autopsy report obtained by the outlet, Hardwick — who passed at age 64 in August — was discovered dead in the bathtub of his home in Texas, and reportedly only weighed 100 pounds when his body was found. While the water was running when officers arrived in response to a welfare check call, the drain was open and he was not submerged in the water.

Drugs were found at the scene, and a toxicology test came back with a “presumptive positive test for cannabinoids,” per the medical examiner, via TMZ. However, the kind of drugs were not specified. There were no signs of obvious trauma.

Hardwick was best known for voicing Dale Gribble — a conspiracy theorist, exterminator, bounty hunter, gun fanatic, and best friend of Mike Judge‘s Hank Hill — on the Adult Swim comedy. Hardwick voiced Gribble in 258 episodes over the course of the 13-season-long animated series, per IMDb, in addition to being a writer, story editor, and producer on the show. According to Entertainment Weekly, it was Judge and Greg Daniels who approached him after a comedy show in LA to take part in King of the Hill.

The series debuted on Fox in 1997 and ran until 2010, ultimately becoming syndicated worldwide.

Hardwick also had his own YouTube channel, where he would post covers of songs as Gribble, and even donned an orange baseball hat and sunglasses to resemble his character.

Hardwick began his stand-up career in 1990 and became the first stand-up comedian to perform on The Jon Stewart Show.

Hulu ordered a revival of King of the Hill in January, per Collider, but it is uncertain as to whether Hardwick recorded any of it prior to his death.
