Alyssa Farah Griffin says we’ve got it all wrong when we picture a typical American who cast their vote for Donald Trump. The conservative View co-host told the Hot Topics panel today that it’s time to wake up to the real possibility that Trump — who is currently on trial in a civil fraud case — could win once again in 2024.

While debating a poll recent New York Times / Siena College poll showing Trump beating President Joe Biden in key states for the 2024 presidential election, Griffin got blunt.

“Donald Trump could beat Joe Biden,” she warned, before telling her co-hosts that Trump voters are more ubiquitous than we think.

“I think there’s this misconception — and I fall victim to it too, now, as somebody who no longer supports Trump — that Trump voters are just people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. They’re not! We walk by them every day. They’re tens of millions of Americans,” she said.

Griffin continued, “A lot of my family member are literally only not voting for Trump ’cause he’s called me mean names. They’ll be like, my 401K was better, my grocery prices were cheaper then. That is a reality. There are tens of millions of people who still support him. I spent a lot of time in Florida and New Hampshire, and there is an energy there.

Griffin is certainly the one to trust on this topic. Before joining The View, the talk show co-host served in the Trump administration as White House Director of Strategic Communications and Assistant to the President in 2020. She resigned as communications director Dec. 3, 2020, leaving the White House the next day.

Later on today’s episode, Griffin said she’s focusing on the Republican primary — which, even as a Republican herself, she professed is “looking bleak” — but also issued a stern warning to the opposing party: “There is a very real reality that Joe Biden could lose to Donald Trump, and I think Democrats need to take it seriously.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
