Fans of The White Lotus are in for a treat. Series creator Mike White just dropped an update about the status of Season 3, which was announced almost a year ago.

While it’s nowhere near time for viewers to be checking into the next season of the Emmy award-winning HBO hotel drama, White revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he’s “seriously finishing scripts.”

“Still waiting to be able to cast,” the series creator explained. “If the SAG strike isn’t resolved soon, then yeah, we’d have to push again because the show has a new cast every season, so there’s lots of parts to cast … I’m more than eager to get going.”

According to Variety, the third season is set to take place in Thailand, following Season 1’s setting in Hawaii and Season 2’s trip to Sicily. Natasha Rothwell, who played Belinda in Season 1, is the only star to announce their return for the new season so far.

White shared that the impending third season is “going to be a supersized White Lotus.”

“It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier,” he continued. “I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing … I’m super excited about the content of the season.”

In terms of other familiar storylines appearing in the upcoming season, White told The Hollywood Reporter that “it would be easy to just be full-on anthology, but [he] think[s] it’s more fun to have little threads through the show.”

“If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season,” he added.

At last week’s HBO programming presentation, network CEO Casey Bloys said due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, The While Lotus is “likely moving into 2025” for its release, per Deadline.

The White Lotus Seasons 1 and 2 are now steaming on Max.
