Actor and comedian Kel Mitchell is “now on the road to recovery” following a recent hospitalization.

According to TMZ , the Good Burger star was admitted to the emergency room of a Los Angeles area hospital on Tuesday (Nov. 7). A witness told the outlet that he appeared to be conscious and alert upon arrival.

Although the cause of Mitchell’s hospitalization is still unknown, he posted an update on Instagram, expressing that he is “grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes during a genuinely frightening time.”

“The scare was real, but so was the support,” he shared. “With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family. Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you enough. Much love to each of you.”

Prior to his recent update, promotional posts were shared to Mitchell’s Instagram over the course of his hospital stay, including news of his appearance on Celebrity Squares and his upcoming film Good Burger 2, but may have been scheduled before he was admitted to the emergency room.

Decider has reached out to Mitchell’s representatives for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Mitchell is reprising his role of Ed alongside Kenan Thompson‘s Dexter Reed in Good Burger 2, which was greenlit in March. The new film, for which both he and Thompson serve as producers, is the sequel to their 1997 comedy, and hits Paramount+ on Nov. 22, per People.

The comedy duo also reunited for a Saturday Night Live sketch in December that parodied their 1996 Nickelodeon comedy series Kenan & Kel, featuring guest host Keke Palmer.
