R.I.P. Kevin Turen: ‘Euphoria’ and ‘The Idol’ Producer Dead At 44

Producer Kevin Turen, known for working on Euphoria and The Idol, passed away suddenly this weekend at the age of 44. The cause of death is still unknown, per Deadline.

Turen worked across film and television since he got his start in the industry in 2005 after graduating from Columbia University. Over the years, he worked as a producer on The Birth of a Nation, That Awkward Moment and Assassination Nation, among others. He also produced Ti West’s X trilogy.

He later became a frequent collaborator of Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. He produced a number of episodes of Euphoria and The Idol, the HBO series Levinson created with The Weeknd. He was also a producer on Levinson’s 2021 drama Malcolm & Marie, starring Zendaya and John David Washington.

“Kevin was so incredibly special, this world is going to be less without him,” his father, Edward Turen, said in a statement to Deadline.

Assassination Nation actor Danny Ramirez shared a post in his memory on social media, recalling how the producer encouraged him early in his career.

“Kevin Turen… rest in peace brother. Your words gave me confidence I’ve carried everywhere with me,” he wrote. “My heart and soul goes out to your family and friends. The work you’ve help champion has shifted culture and brought to the spotlight so many talented artist.”

Jay Penske, CEO of PMC and a close friend on Turen’s, also released a statement following his death.

“Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends,” Penske said, per Deadline. “He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world.”

He continued, “Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars today.”

Turen is survived by his wife, actress Evelina Turen, and their two children.
