Taika Waititi is dishing on what it was like directing former president Donald Trump.

On an episode of Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett‘s SmartLess podcast released on Monday (Nov. 27), the critically acclaimed director shared that he “directed Trumpy” in NBC’s “Brotherhood of Man” commercial which aired during the 2012 Super Bowl, per Business Insider. The former president — who at the time hosted the network’s reality competition series The Apprentice — appeared in the promo spotlighting the stars of NBC’s hit programs, such as 30 Rock, The Office, and Parks and Recreation.

When asked if Trump “had a set of specifications he had to adhere to,” Waititi remembered there being “a list.”

“There was a piece of paper with a list of demands,” he revealed. “The height of the camera had to be a certain height to make him look a little thinner.”

Quipping that he “think[s] it had whatever the Pantone of orange was that he had to appear as on screen,” the Next Goal Wins director even mentioned that Trump “had a makeup person who was also his ego booster.”

“She would touch him up and say, ‘Oh, Mr. Trump, oh Mr. Trump,'” he recalled.

In the same podcast episode, he also revealed that he originally “had no interest” in filming a Marvel movie, and ultimately chose to direct Thor: Ragnarok out of financial need.

“It wasn’t on my plan for my career as an auteur,” he explained. “But I was poor and I’d just had a second child, and I thought, ‘You know what, this would be a great opportunity to feed these children.'”

He also recently told Business Insider that he “won’t be involved” in the fifth installment of the Thor films.

“I’m going to concentrate on these other films that I’ve signed on for,” he said.

Nonetheless, he noted, “But I love Marvel, I love working with them. I love Chris [Hemsworth].”
