All good things must come to an end, and so it is with Netflix‘s super-popular, long-running, award-winning drama, The Crown. The final six episodes of The Crown are set to premiere on Netflix on Thursday, December 14. While The Crown Season 6 Part 1 focused on the weeks leading up to the tragic death of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), The Crown Season 6 Part 2 will shift focus to the aging Queen Elizabeth II (Imelda Staunton), then Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams), and most importantly, the personal life of a young Prince William (Ed McVey). We’ve known for a while that The Crown‘s final season would dramatize the early days of Prince William and current wife Kate Middleton’s (Meg Bellamy) romance. Now we not only have confirmation, but a first look, at one of the most seismic moments from that era: when college co-ed Kate Middleton donned a sheer dress to catch Wills’s eye during a charity fashion show. It’s supposedly the moment when the young prince started seeing his platonic friend as a potential partner and it made tabloid headlines back in the day…

Twenty-odd years ago, Prince Williams wasn’t a middle-aged dad seemingly dividing his time between briefing against his brother in the tabloids and doing photo ops for the Earthshot prize. He was, instead, considered the most eligible bachelor in the world. He would literally cover the likes of Seventeen magazine, inspiring crushes and opening up rampant speculation about his love life. He was young, he was handsome, he was rich, and he was destined to be King of England one.

In 2001, Prince William met Catherine “Kate” Middleton at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Now there’s been a lot of gossip over the years that Kate’s ambitious mother Carole Middleton masterminded her daughter’s romance with the young prince. For instance, Kate just so happened to switch her own college plans to “follow” William to St Andrews. That’s all speculation. What we do seem to know, though, is that in 2002, Kate donned a sheer lace dress at a charity fashion show and Prince William was watching from the front row. Legend has it this is the moment that Prince William realized he had the hots for his future wife. Now we have confirmation that The Crown is going to give us their spin on the moment…

While the royals like to keep the details of their personal lives private, we do know that within the year, Prince William and Kate Middleton became roommates (with two other co-eds), and by 2003, were confirmed to be a couple. The twenty-somethings dated off-and-on throughout the aughts until becoming engaged in 2010. They had a fairy tale wedding in 2011. Today, the couple have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Of course, Prince William and Kate Middleton aren’t the only modern day royals who are about to get The Crown treatment. Prince Harry’s late teens and early twenties were an infamously tumultuous time for the royal. The present-day Duke of Sussex will be played by Luther Ford in the final episodes of The Crown. Netflix’s first look at the royal brothers depict the now-feuding duo in far happier times.

Also looking rather happy in Netflix’s newly released first look photos? The current King Charles and Queen Camilla. A few months back, Netflix unveiled a cheeky invitation to the reigning monarchs’ low-key 2005 nuptials. Now, we have a hi-res photo of actors Dominic West and Olivia Williams recreating the happy day. Will you take the time to attend the Netflix version of the event?

The Crown Season 6 Part 2 will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, December 14.
