Lifetime Breaks Boundaries With Their First Ever Christmas Movie Sex Scene, Star Jana Kramer Shares Dirty Details: “He Lays Me Down On Some Hay”

Lifetime Channel is getting hot and heavy this holiday season as the network trades out its traditional Christmas tropes for its first-ever sex scene.

This year’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” lineup features 12 new holiday movies, including A Cowboy Christmas Romance, which stars Jana Kramer and Adam Senn as its leading couple. The movie follows a real estate agent who must return home to Arizona one week before Christmas to convince a local rancher to give up his family’s land.

Aside from reconnecting with her family, Kramer’s character also sparks a romance with the rancher and … you guessed it! They have some steamy sex.

“We think that there’s an audience out there that’s hungry for grown-up romance, and we’re looking forward to adding some smolder to the usual holiday sugar and spice,” Tia Maggini, SVP of scripted content at Lifetime, told Variety. “We love trying new things, and we’re excited about this new ‘first’ for us for a holiday movie.”

On Monday’s (Nov. 27) episode of Kramer’s Whine Down podcast, she was joined by the film’s writer Sarah Drew, and they further dished on all the dirty details.

“Spoiler alert — he lays me down on some hay, and then we, you know,” the One Tree Hill alum said, per Variety. “Obviously, it’s still Lifetime, it’s still family. But it was pushing limits there, too… They didn’t cut anything. I was so happy that they really left it all in there.”

Drew added that the scene between Kramer and Senn came out “so beautifully” — and even teased another provocative moment she wrote into the film.

“It all came out so beautifully, but especially the scene in the kitchen. I had written into the stage directions, ‘He pulls her up onto the counter, he shoves things off the table,'” she explained. “I put it all in there, so I was like, ‘Don’t take the steam and the sex away from me. I wrote it on purpose, I want it in there.'”

According to Kramer, who has starred in eight Lifetime movies to date, A Cowboy Christmas Romance strays away from the traditional holiday flicks that air on the network.

“We barely mention the word ‘Christmas.’ There’s no gingerbread bake-off, there’s no festival, that town that’s going to hell and you gotta save it,” she said. “The only thing was, like, [my character] coming back and seeing Adam or his character… Those cozy feelings happen, but it’s all mixed up with real family stuff and identity stuff and relationship stuff.”

A Cowboy Christmas Romance premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, Dec. 9.
