Frasier star Kelsey Grammer was “perfectly happy” to voice his support for 2024 hopeful and one-term POTUS Donald Trump during a recent interview with the BBC — that is, until the Paramount+ PR team reportedly cut the questions off.

Per Deadline, BBC interviewer Justin Webb questioned the sitcom star on his continued support for the conservative Republican. “You mentioned Roseanne [Barr] early on, who had a great comeback but also was a Trump supporter. You were, at least you were, a Trump supporter. I’m fascinated to know if you still are?” Webb asked him.

Grammer replied, “I am, and I’ll let that be the end of it.”

After the interview, Webb noted to his co-host, “I have to say actually Kelsey Grammer himself was perfectly happy to go on talking about it. The Paramount+ PR people, less happy that he talked about it at some length so we… They decided we’d had plenty of time for our interview.”

He added, “But I should stress that he was perfectly happy to talk about why he supports Donald Trump and still does in the forthcoming election.”

Decider has reached out to Paramount+ for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Grammer has been an outspoken supporter of Trump over the years. In 2016, he noted that his conservative views have not impacted his career.

While speaking to Christiane Amanpour on PBS in 2019, Grammer said he’s “not aware of taking a hit for” his Republican beliefs, per USA Today. He also called other politicians “the same bunch of clowns.”

“I don’t think Washington did us any favors for the last 50, 60 years, I think they’ve all been sort of the same party, the same bunch of clowns, the same bunch of really unpleasant people. And I don’t think they’ve been helping anybody but themselves,” he said at the time.

The Frasier reboot recently premiered on Paramount+ with a new cast after almost 20 years off the air. The series was a successful spinoff of the comedy Cheers.
