Meg Ryan poked fun at her When Harry Met Sally… co-star Billy Crystal at Sunday night’s (Dec. 3) Kennedy Center Honors, and of course had to mention the 1989 rom-com’s infamous fake orgasm scene.

The scene, which takes place in New York City’s famous Katz’s Delicatessen, features Ryan’s Sally Albright and Crystal’s Harry Burns out to lunch. After Harry claims no woman he’s slept with has ever had to fake an orgasm, Sally proceeds to feign having an orgasm right there at the table in order to prove that he may be under a false impression.

The scene is rounded out by a woman at a nearby table — played by director Rob Reiner‘s mother — telling the server, “I’ll have what she’s having.”

According to The Daily Mail, Ryan took the stage on Sunday night and shared about her experience working with Crystal, who was one of five recipients at last night’s annual event, explaining that the scene in question “came really naturally” to her.

“And I really have Billy to thank for that,” she added. “I’ve actually never been around anyone who made faking an orgasm easier. So thank you, Billy.”

She described acting with Crystal as feeling “effortless,” as “the characters just came alive.”

“As his wife Janice has known for over 50 years, falling in love with Billy is a pretty easy thing to do,” she added.

Reiner also spoke to Crystal’s talent at Sunday’s event, sharing that he was actually the one to craft the line, “I’ll have what she’s having.”

Crystal was inducted alongside Renée Fleming, Queen Latifah, Barry Gibb and Dionne Warwick.

On the red carpet ahead of Sunday’s event, Crystal told People how he and Ryan were “thrown together” by Reiner and writer Nora Ephron, noting that “almost 35 years later, [they’re still a couple to everybody.”

“You know, people fall in love every day, and people fall out of love every day,” he said. “This movie is an evergreen that way. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Recently, Ryan opened up to Carol Burnett in Interview magazine about the orgasm scene, which she described as “a very unique embarrassment” for her children, revealing that her son Jack had just visited Katz’s Deli.

“He said, ‘You know you can go into that deli and there’s an arrow pointing down to the table where you shot that scene,'” she shared.

The 46th Annual Kennedy Center Honors will air on Wednesday, Dec. 27 on CBS, and will also stream on Paramount+.
