Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and fans of the iconic film The Devil Wears Prada were taken down memory lane as the co-stars reunited for Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” interview series. The new feature got off to a cheeky start when Blunt asked if she and Hathaway had met “before the table read” for the 2006 comedy-drama.

Hathaway replied, “This is so embarrassing because I remember every second of the first time I met you. I’m so much more into you than you are into me. It’s fine. It’s fine.”

She then recalled being cast “just before” Blunt.

“I was hearing that your name came up, and they said, ‘It’s this amazing girl out of England and she’s so funny,'” she shared. “And I remember walking into the room and turning and meeting you. In my head — instant thought — I was like, ‘What a movie star!'”

While Hathaway claimed that the Oppenheimer star was “shedding stardust,” and remembered going for coffee and a walk together, Blunt said she felt “so green coming into that situation.”

“And you were like the warmest embrace,” she gushed. “Even though you were a colossal movie star at that time, you treated me like a complete equal. You are one of the people I’ve known longest.”

Realizing that they’ve “known each other for 18 years,” the two likened their relationship to “the age of an adult” and “the drinking age in England.”

“We are so drunk in England right now,” Hathaway quipped.

The two got the chance to exchange iconic quotes from the film with each other, ranging from “Can you please spell ‘Gabbana’?” to “Well, I don’t eat anything, and when I feel like I’m about to faint, I eat a cube of cheese” — the latter of which Hathaway deemed “one of the most iconic lines in cinema history.”

The hit film follows Andy (Hathaway), a new college grad who scores a job at a fashion magazine as the co-assistant to its ruthless editor, Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep). Blunt plays the other co-assistant, Emily Charlton, which served as her breakout role.

Earlier in the interview, Blunt claimed that the film is “quoted to [her] every week.”

“It will be the movie that changed my life,” she said.
