Taylor Swift is going to keep supporting the boy on the football team and nothing can stop her — not even the “dads, Brads, and Chads” who roll their eyes at the NFL‘s excessive coverage of their relationship.

The singer, who was named Time magazine’s 2023 “Person of the Year,” has finally broken her silence about her budding love story with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Ever since she made a surprise appearance at his Sept. 24 game against the Chicago Bears, the internet has been buzzing about their highly publicized romance. In fact, the game she attended the following week became the most-watched Sunday program since the Super Bowl.

“Football is awesome, it turns out,” she joked. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

Swift’s newfound interest in the NFL has brought in a whole new demographic hoping to catch a glimpse of the star cheering on her strapping boyfriend from a suite — oftentimes with quarterback Patrick Mahomes‘ wife Brittany Mahomes or Kelce’s mother, Donna. She has even invited celebrity pals like Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively to join her at one of the games.

While the “August” songstress has become a main focus in the handful of games she’s attended, she is blissfully unaware of how much screen time she’s actually getting.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she told Time. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”

She added, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

The star, who has previously been rather hush-hush about her personal life when it comes to interviews, also clarified her relationship timeline with Kelce — who caught her attention after telling his podcast listeners that he tried to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it while attending her Eras Tour.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift said. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

According to Swift, they were already a “couple” by the time she went to that first game. While some people thought it was their first date, she assured readers that neither of them would be “psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Now that the cat’s out of the bag, the duo has no plans to dial back their public support of one another.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift said. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
