Jacqueline Novak’s ‘Get on Your Knees’, A Comedy Special About Oral Sex, Heads To Netflix In January

Comedian Jacqueline Novak started performing her stand-up show Get On Your Knees in 2019, running at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theater, and now it’s headed to Netflix next month.

Novak’s BJ manifesto — not to be confused with BJ Novak‘s manifesto, which is a book with no pictures — will premiere on the platform Jan. 23, 2024.

The show is, as the title suggests, about blow-jobs, though its official description states that it’s “part feminist outcry and part coming-of-age story” and in it, “Novak spins her material on the femininity of the penis and the stoicism of the vulva into an unexpectedly philosophical show.”

The Netflix special, which is described as a 90-minute concert film-meets-comedy special, was filmed earlier this year at New York’s Town Hall and was directed by Natasha Lyonne.

Lyonne has said that Novak is “one of our great new philosophers with a deeply existential show.” Comedians Mike Birbiglia and John Early, who have both been champions of Novak’s work, also executive produced the special.

Novak is perhaps best known for her comedy podcast POOG, which she co-hosts with fellow comedian Kate Berlant, a riff on Gwyneth Paltrow‘s GOOP brand.

She has also frequently appeared on late-night talk shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Seth Meyers, and The Late Late Show with James Corden.
