Mark Wahlberg has learned not to disagree with Kelly Ripa. After being asked if he’s getting ready for the holidays while stopping by Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, The Family Plan star clarified that his “wife is getting ready for the holidays.”

“She does everything,” he admitted to co-hosts Ripa and Mark Consuelos. “I have one responsibility: to get her something nice. She takes care of everything else.”

Ripa then recalled a “very funny meme” she recently saw that compared “the husband’s list” and “the wife’s list” of responsibilities during the holidays.

“And the husband’s list is ‘Get wife something,'” she explained. “And then the wife’s list is 8,000 people long.”

Wahlberg argued that “it doesn’t really need to be that long.”

“And that many gifts for that many people, it’s a little overboard,” he added.

Ripa replied that, actually, “it does” need to be that long, citing the example of including people such as teachers on your list of gift recipients because you want them “to be happy.”

Wahlberg claimed that gift giving should focus on “that one thing that means so much” as opposed to “the 20 things, that you kind of forget about 18 of them.”

Ripa noted, “You forget because you’re not as involved with say, the cousins. When they thank you for the gift, it’s because [your wife] Rhea put a lot of thought into it.”

Wahlberg ultimately surrendered, telling Ripa, “You’re right.”

“I’ve said enough,” he added. “I don’t want to get myself in trouble here.”

Ripa quipped, “You said what you said!”

Consuelos asked Wahlberg if anybody ever thanks him for a gift that his wife actually picked out for them and he has “no idea what they’re talking about,” which Wahlberg said happens “all the time.”

“I have no idea,” he continued. “I’m like, ‘What was it again?'”

Ripa chimed in, “But they’re grateful!”
