Tony Danza is dishing on all the behind-the-scenes gossip about his 1970s sitcom Taxi. On this morning’s episode of The View, the actor revealed exactly why his relationship with co-star Marilu Henner didn’t work out.

Danza and Henner appeared on the hit daytime talk show alongside their co-stars Carol Kane, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and Judd Hirsch to celebrate Taxi’s 45th anniversary. According to Danza, Henner — who was the only woman on the show for the first four seasons — was his “first Hollywood girlfriend.”

“I walked in, I saw six guys and her. Even if it wasn’t six guys, it would’ve been her,” Danza quipped.

The duo’s romance eventually fizzled out — and Henner’s exceptional memory is partially to blame.

“The problem is, you don’t want your girlfriend to have a great memory. ‘Don’t you remember?’ Of course she does! She remembers everything, and so it’s just not something you want,” Danza joked, while Henner laughed in response.

Danza wasn’t even exaggerating about his longtime pal’s super-memory. In fact, Henner previously opened up to The Today Show about having Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory or H-SAM, which is the rare ability to recall specific details from specific dates throughout her life.

“It’s like having Google in your brain,” Henner said in 2017. “You can always find things.”

While the Taxi cast often meets up on Zoom calls — 19 since the pandemic, to be exact — their reunion on The View came to be after Hirsch called up Whoopi Goldberg.

“He called, he said, ‘Listen, we are all gonna be in town. It’s the 45th anniversary, and we’re all in town because we’re seeing Danny’s show on Broadway. Could you get us on The View? We should get on The View,'” Goldberg recalled on a recent episode of the Behind the Table podcast, per People.

She teased, “We do really fun stuff on this show. It seems sometimes, I think to us, because we talk about a lot of things going on in the world. But every so often we do something fabulous and out there. And this was fabulous and out there.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
