Mark Consuelos sparked some spirited discussion on Live with Kelly and Mark this morning when he revealed that, according to one interior designer, “one Christmas tree isn’t enough.”

“Having one is boring,” he read. “We’re seeing a number of people putting in multiple trees in various rooms around their home to feel the Christmas spirit throughout their whole house.”

While Consuelos felt that one was more than enough, his wife and co-host Kelly Ripa said she’ll “stick with two because that’s the amount of Christmas trees in [their] house.”

“Cause everyone wants a tree in their bathroom,” Ripa quipped.

The two looked around the soundstage and admired the four “traditional” trees adorning the set.

“They have multi-colored lights, they’re beautiful, they smell, I do appreciate that because there’s another trend,” Consuelos said. “Pink trees. Ah, no! Noooo! No, no, no no!”

Ripa said the pink trees aren’t a new trend, claiming they’ve been a tradition in New Jersey since the ’70s. “If you’re from New Jersey, if you know, you know,” she added.

After recalling an old artificial silver tree of his, Consuelos eventually asked Ripa if she liked the pink tree, which she affirmed, noting that she “like[s] all Christmas trees.”

“I’m a festive person,” she argued. “I’m the opposite of you.” While she said that she understands that “the tree is not the meaning behind the holiday,” she admitted, “I like a big tinsel-y tree. I want the lights. Give me the bells and whistles. I want balls on that tree!”

Highlighting other essential tree decorations such as their “kids’ handprint[s]” that they made at school and framed photos of her children as infants, she reiterated that “all of that goes on the tree.”

“I want my tree to look exhausted by the end of the holiday!” she said.

Consuelos said “she can have that,” but under one condition: “Just as long as by Jan. 2nd, it’s all gone,” he shared.
