The Crown Season 6 Part 2 premiered on Netflix today, introducing us to Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy), Tony Blair (Bertie Carvel), and bidding adieu to the series as a whole. Sure, Netflix has been advertising The Crown Season 6 as the royal drama’s very last season, but hit shows come back from the dead all the time. Surely series creator Peter Morgan is itching to continue the story of young royals Prince William (Ed McVey) and Prince Harry (Luther Ford). The Crown Season 6 ends in 2005, robbing us of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s fairy tale perfect wedding day or the moment Prince Harry met wife Meghan Markle. So could it be? Will there be another season of The Crown on Netflix? Will the streaming service make The Crown Season 7?

The Crown first premiered on Netflix back in 2016. It was hyped as one of the streaming service’s most expensive originals to date and immediately captured the imagination of audiences worldwide. Early seasons focused on the tension between young Queen Elizabeth II’s (Claire Foy) personal desires and the duties she had to take on as a young monarch. Then, in The Crown Season 3, Olivia Colman took over the role of the now middle-aged monarch. The Crown Season 4 focused on the tumultuous marriage of Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin). Then, in 2022, The Crown time-jumped to the ’90s. Imelda Staunton played the aging monarch, Dominic West her heir apparent, and Elizabeth Debicki the troubled Diana.

The Crown Season 6 has been divided into two parts. The Crown Season 6 Part 1, which premiered last month, looked at the final weeks of Diana’s short, tragic life. The Crown Season 6 Part 2, which dropped today, deals with the aftermath of that loss. After Prince William overcomes his grief, he goes off to college, where he meets future bride Kate Middleton. The season ends in 2005 with the marriage of the current reigning monarchs, King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

Of course, a lot has happened to the royal family between 2005 and today. Will The Crown continue to tell the royal family’s story? Will there be a Crown Season 7 or is the Netflix hit officially over?

Will The Crown Season 7 Be on Netflix?

The answer is no. Netflix has no plans to make The Crown Season 7.

Although there are two more decades of royal family drama for the show to explore, creator Peter Morgan has been emphatic that he doesn’t want the show to catch up to modern times.

The Crown is kaput, people! This is it! You will not get your Meghan Markle mayhem!

When Will The Crown Season 7 Be on Netflix?

Never! Provided Peter Morgan doesn’t decide he wants to tackle the 2010s after all in like five or ten years.
