When I think of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, I immediately hear Harold Faltermeyer’s iconic instrumental title tune “Axel F.” Well, that and Eddie Murphy’s trademark Axel Foley laugh.
Originally premiering in 1984, Martin Brest’s classic action comedy Beverly Hills Cop is the quintessential ’80s buddy cop movie. Starring Eddie Murphy and a strong supporting cast that includes Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Lisa Eilbacher, Ronny Cox, Bronson Pinchot, Damon Wayans, and Jonathan Banks, the blockbuster movie spawned two sequels (although Beverly Hills Cop 3 is…um… not great), with a third sequel, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, coming to Netflix in the summer of 2024.
