Hillary Clinton is warning that nothing but catastrophe will come from a second Donald Trump presidency. The former Secretary of State stopped by The View today, where she weighed in on Trump’s reelection campaign and her predictions for 2024.

Clinton, who ran against Trump and lost in the 2016 election, remained hopeful about President Joe Biden‘s chances at a second term. But if he loses to Trump, she said, America is in trouble.

“What, in your view, would happen if he were to be reelected?” Sunny Hostin asked Clinton, referring to Trump, who has been beating Biden in polls despite his ongoing legal troubles.

Clinton replied, “I can’t even think that, because I think it would be the end of our country as we know it, and I don’t say that lightly.”

She continued, “You know, I hated losing, and I especially hated losing to him, because I had seen so many warning signals during the campaign. But I immediately said ‘Look, we have to give him a chance. We’ve got to support the president we have,’ and I meant it. And I tried, really hard.

“And then literally, from his inauguration on, it was nothing but accusing people of things, making up facts, denying the size of the crowd at his own inauguration,” Clinton said. “And everything that I worried about, I saw unfolding.”

In Clinton’s view, a second Trump term would inevitably be worse than the first. As she explained it, Trump would no longer have anyone pushing back against his decisions, enabling to do whatever he pleases.

“I think that he’d be even worse now,” Clinton said. “Because he was somewhat restrained — believe it or not — in the first term by people who he hired because he thought they would go along with him, and they stood up to him.”

She continued, “And so now he is going to — if he were ever near the oval office again — find people who have no principles, no conscious who are totally  tied to his fortunes, literally, and therefore would do whatever he said. And so, the wreckage is almost unimaginable.”

Clinton closed out her comments by urging Americans to take the threats Trump poses seriously.

“Trump is telling us what he intends to do. Take him at his word,” she said. “The man means to throw people in jail who disagree with him, shut down legitimate press outlets, do what he can to literally undermine the rule and our country’s values.”
