John Schneider has found himself in hot water with the Secret Service. Not long after the Dukes of Hazzard star reportedly called for President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden‘s public executions on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Secret Service has opened an investigation into his eyebrow-raising statements, according to Deadline.

In a since-deleted comment that was posted after he came in second place on The Masked Singer, Schneider reportedly wrote, “Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung. Your son too. Your response is… ? Sincerely, John Schneider,” per a screenshot obtained by Vulture’s West Coast TV editor, Joe Adalian.

Schneider’s statement was a reply to Biden’s tweet claiming that former President Donald Trump “poses many threats to our country.”

While the Secret Service caught wind and decided to open a probe into the comment, Schneider has maintained that he did not threaten the President.

“Seriously, folks? This is my final comment on this. I neither said nor implied any such thing,” he wrote when reached for comment by Decider yesterday. “Despite headlines claiming otherwise, in my post, I absolutely did not call for an act of violence or threaten a U.S. president as many other celebrities have done in the past. I suggest you re-read my actual post and pay attention to the words before believing this nonsense.”

He continued, “It’s my position, which I am entitled to have, that some of our nation’s leaders in Washington have lost their way, and corruption runs rampant, both on our nation’s borders and abroad. Transparency and accountability must happen in order for our constitutional republic to survive. There is no threat implied or otherwise in that statement.”

It’s no secret that Schneider isn’t the biggest fan of Biden, whom he frequently criticizes on social media. In October, he accused the President of funding Hamas’ “barbaric and inhumane attack on Israel,” and earlier this year, he claimed Biden has “lied on every résumé he’s ever written and every speech he’s ever given.” Schneider also told Fox News in 2018  that he thinks there’s “a bias against conservatives, Republicans, in Hollywood,” per The Wrap.

Decider has reached out to reps for Schneider for comment, but did not hear anything by the time of publication.
