One Life to Live actor Kamar de los Reyes passed away Sunday (Dec. 24). He was 56 years old.

His passing was confirmed by Lisa Goldberg, a publicist of his wife’s, actress Sherri Saum. The television star reportedly passed away following a brief battle with cancer, according to Variety.

De los Reyes is best known for starring as Antonio Vega in One Life to Live from 1995 to 2009. He also played antagonist Raul Menendez in the popular video games Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Vanguard.

The Puerto Rico-born actor got his start in 1988 when he landed a dancing role in Kenny Ortega‘s Salsa. He soon pivoted from dancing and focused on his acting career, where he later landed a regular role in Valley of the Dolls as Ray Ariaz. He soon launched a successful television career, with additional appearances in multiple primetime programs such as ER, Blue Bloods, and Law & Order.

He most recently starred in All American and Sleepy Hollow. He also made a brief regular appearance in The Rookie in 2021.

According to a statement from the family, he had recently shot roles for the upcoming Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again reboot and Hulu’s Washington Black, also starring Sterling K. Brown. He was also filming All American at the time of his death.

Washington Black showrunner Selwyn Hinds shared a statement on social media mourning the late actor.

“Heartbroken today to learn of the passing of the wonderful actor @delosreyeskamar, who plays Captain Alvarez in Washington Black,” Hinds’ statement reads. “The entire cast and crew grieve this untimely loss. You will be sorely missed, my friend. Rest well.”

All American actor Cody Christian also penned a tribute to his co-star, writing, “I’m devastated. And honestly.. I don’t even know what to say in this moment. My heart aches for your family.”

His statement continues, “Thank you for treating me like a son. Thank you for sharing the screen and this art form we both cherish with me. Thank you for your mentorship and the conversations that aided me in the worst times of my life. You will forever be in my heart Kamar.”

De los Reyes is survived by his wife and his three sons, Caylen, Michael, and John.
