Before he played Prince Charles on The Crown, actor Dominic West once considered Prince Harry a close friend after the two trekked the Langjökull Glacier in Iceland in 2013.

But West recently revealed that he is no longer on speaking terms with the British royal.

During a recent radio appearance on Times Radio, West denied having reached out to Prince Harry for advice on playing Prince Charles.

“No, we sort of—no,” he replied. “I said too much in a press conference and so we didn’t speak after that.”

He later added, “I think I was asked what we did to celebrate when we got there and probably said something too much.”

West appeared to be referring to comments he made in 2014 regarding how they celebrated completing the 2013 Walking With the Wounded challenge.

“Most of us, Harry included, just went on a two-day bender with the Icelandic truck drivers who had brought some lethal home brew with them,” West said at the time, per ABC News.

West added that they “all” drank champagne out of a fellow hiker’s prosthetic legs. He also praised the prince for keeping morale high by telling “filthy” jokes.

Despite their falling out, West recently admitted that he bought Prince Harry’s memoir Spare “immediately” when it hit the shelves, likely to inform his acting choices on The Crown.

“I know [The Crown creator Peter Morgan] didn’t read Harry’s book,” he told Variety. “I certainly did. I bought it immediately, and I think it did slightly affect the way we played that key scene where he wakes Harry up. I don’t think it really affected anything that Peter had written.”

All six seasons of The Crown are now streaming on Netflix.
